As a part-time faculty member in the Doctor of Occupational Safety and Health program, you will play a vital role in educating doctoral students. Collaborating closely with other faculty members, you will create an engaging learning environment. In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will serve as a subject matter expert within your discipline.
Essential Job Tasks (additional Duties May Be Assigned)
Teach undergraduate courses in Occupational Safety and Health
Record and post a welcome video and transcript to engage students
Foster student engagement and encourage course completion through effective communication
Maintain presence in the virtual classroom throughout the week
Respond to student inquiries within 48 hours using university-assigned email
Facilitate meaningful discussions and provide timely feedback via Blackboard
Host live lectures during specified times
Contribute to curriculum maintenance and course reviews
Address academic integrity concerns and grading issues promptly and professionally
Serve as a dissertation committee member or chair as assigned
Participate in remote meetings, training sessions, and faculty development activities
Potential opportunity to contribute as a course writer for additional compensation
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Knowledge of academic processes and university guidelines
Proficiency in office procedures and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Effective time management and attention to detail
Ability to engage with written and spoken information effectively
Education And Experience
Terminal degree or master's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field
Minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline
Equipment Requirements
Experience teaching at the college or university level preferred
Instructors Must Have Access To
Personal computer, telephone, printer with scanner
Software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database
Secure and reliable internet connection
