Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education (SMGE) offers undergraduate programs in Middle Grades Education and Secondary Education as well as graduate programs (M.A.T., M.Ed., Ed.S., Ed.D.) in various middle and secondary area concentrations. Service courses are also offered to support secondary, elementary, and PK-12 programs. The department faculty are committed to the development of expertise in teaching and learning in collaboration with units across campus and local school districts. Our programs foster the development of knowledge, skills, and dispositions required of educators who design and implement integrated instructional programs for learners that are developmentally and culturally responsive.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time faculty positions in the Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education for the academic year 2024-2025. These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the field of education
Area of specialization may include mathematics, science, social studies, language arts, curriculum and instruction, educational psychology, methodology, etc.
Teaching expectations may include graduate and undergraduate content and pedagogy.
Student teaching/clinical supervision at grades 6-12.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
To teach undergraduate courses:
A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Teacher Education or a closely related discipline is required.
OR
A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Teacher Education is required.
To Teach Graduate Courses
A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Teacher Education or a related discipline is required.
Experience with mentoring and/or supervising pre-service teachers
Experience with teaching at the collegiate level
Experience with research specific to the field of education
Experience with key and unit assessments related to program accreditation
Experience teaching on-line and/or hybrid courses
Experience teaching undergraduate students
Experience teaching graduate students
