The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Vermont State University, Department of Nursing, invites applications for a Part-Time teaching position on our Castleton campus for Fall 2024 (August 26 - December 13, 2024).

Part Time Faculty - Nursing - NUR 2045 - Pathophysiology, Pharmacology & Nursing Care of the Adult I - 6 credits

This course is the first part of a two-semester learning experience that focuses on the foundation of nursing knowledge in the care of the adult in diverse settings through a review of human systems. The student will bring concepts from their liberal arts, natural and social science courses, and integrate that information into the theory and research-based body of nursing knowledge. The student will develop critical thinking and clinical judgment skills as they identify the pathophysiology and human response of system disorders. The student will then utilize the nursing process to provide safe, quality nursing care, which includes the principles and safe utilization of pharmacologic agents. Through classroom, clinical and laboratory experiences, the student will assess, analyze, plan, deliver and evaluate care for those with acute and chronic conditions. Additionally, the student will learn the importance of working across the continuum to identify risk factors and implement preventative strategies in the management of population healthcare. Professional communication with the interdisciplinary team, patient, support systems and communities will be included as an essential element of providing safe, ethical, compassionate and equitable care across multiple settings to diverse populations.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess a Masters degree in Nursing or related field. Teaching experience in secondary school or college is a plus. An active unencumbered Vermont RN licensure or eligibility for an unencumbered Vermont license required. A valid driver's license is required.

Salary

Based on credits previously taught per VSC-VSCPTF Bargaining Unit Agreement.
