Parking Facilities Attendant (Intermittent)

Summary of Position

The class works under general supervision and requires working knowledge of rules and procedures pertaining to parking facilities operation and security and general safety practices in order to provide security for parked cars and enforce parking rules and regulations.

Position Information

50% -Enforces parking rules and regulations. Monitors vehicles for parking authorization. Provides security for parked vehicles by monitoring lots and reporting suspicious activity to YSU Police. Provides information to customers including direction to campus destinations. Directs traffic in lots and decks. Cleans parking lots and decks. Distributes materials to customers as needed.

50% -Collects parking fees for daily permits when in a booth location. Cleans parking booths as assigned. Issues tickets for violations. Conducts activities related to the motorist assistance program: lockouts, battery jumps, gasoline, etc. Assists in preparation for events and daily operations as directed.

Assists in minor repairs to equipment.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:Performs other related duties as assigned.

Equipment Operated:parking vehicles; hand held computerized ticket writers; mechanical gates; hand tools; battery jumper.

Work Schedule:Intermittent, as needed by the department.

Supervision Exercised:May exercise supervision over student employees.

Reports to: Administrative Assistant 2

Qualifications And Competencies

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:Valid driver's license and compliance with University insurance policy.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of: policies and procedures pertaining to parking facility ticketing and security; public relations; addition and subtraction.

Skill in: verbal communication.

Ability to: deal with problems involving few variables within familiar context; carry out simple instructions; read, copy, and record figures; demonstrate physical fitness.

Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED; 3 months of experience in customer service and/or public relations; valid driver's license.
