Organization Overview -

Tuesday’s Child is a nonprofit organization started in 1980 at Children’s Memorial Hospital by Dr. Victoria Lavigne (Clinical Child Psychologist) and Katherine Augustyn (Early Childhood Specialist). The early intervention/parent-training program offered by Tuesday’s Child is designed for families with young children ages 18 months through 6 years of age. Combining parent training and a child center program, Tuesday’s Child helps families promote healthy functioning and connection.

Job Summary -

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Parent Education Director manages the parent room in the behavioral intervention program and provides outreach programs and school advocacy to parents. The Parent Education Director manages the bilingual program coordinator and the parent coordinator. Working with the clinical psychologist, the Parent Education Director ensures that all families who are enrolled in Tuesday's Child Behavioral Intervention program are receiving high quality, evidence-based programming; including topics related to teaching positive behavioral intervention strategies, positive discipline with young children, and helping families advocate in a school setting.

Essential Duties

Parent Educational Program Responsibilities -

  • Coordinate the behavioral intervention weekday and Saturday parenting programs - consisting of one-on-one peer support and group counseling by a Clinical Psychologist;
  • Prepare relevant program materials, and facilitate all program groups throughout a multi-week course.
  • Facilitate parents’ progression through the programs, and serve as a liaison between all participants and TC staff.
  • Organize the Keeping-In-Touch (KIT) program, Coffee Talk, and Talk About It Tuesdays.
  • Promote ongoing development and preparation of curriculum, education and program materials related to the Parent Education portion of the Behavioral Intervention program.

Educational (Outreach & Advocacy) Responsibilities -

  • Perform English speaking Outreach Programs (related to the Behavioral Intervention Program) reaching participants in community based organizations.
  • Perform professional education programs (related to the Behavioral Intervention Program) for pediatricians, daycares, or other referring agencies.
  • Provide school advocacy to parents in need as requested.
  • Manage peer mentors to provide one-on-one support services to parents in need;
  • Train and support volunteer mentors with continuing education to ensure they are up to date with latest techniques, studies and Tuesday Child's model of service with quarterly programs (4/year).

Data Management & Reporting Responsibilities -

  • Record services for behavioral intervention programs, outreach, and advocacy into the client management database.
  • Perform program evaluation for each service provided as required and record into client management database.

Required Qualifications -

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, psychology, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of management/supervisory experience with a team of direct reports
  • Knowledge and experience with early childhood development
  • Knowledge/experience with behavioral parenting programs
  • Knowledge of special education laws
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong public speaking and facilitation skills to provide outreach workshops
  • Ability to be Early Intervention certified
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Ability to pass a background check

Desired Qualifications -

  • Familiarity with case management databases
  • Proficient in Spanish

Hours -

Tuesday - Friday: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm; Saturdays 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
