Sound Point Capital Management, a credit-oriented investment manager overseeing approximately $45 billion in total assets, is seeking a Paralegal. Sound Point has a diverse product line which includes CLOs and various funds that invest in stressed and distressed credit, commercial real estate, structured products, consumer loans, and corporate special situations. Based in New York, the firm employs more than 205 talented individuals and has grown steadily since inception.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the entire Legal / Compliance Department, which currently consists of GC, CCO, and five other Legal and Compliance professionals.
Perform document reviews (e.g., NDAs, joinders, data room access letters).
Prepare materials for Committee meetings (e.g., Valuation, Conflicts of Interest).
Coordinate assembly and receipt of new fund formation binders, new account openings, and new business closing binders, maintain and update certain electronic files and logs on internal network drives.
Under attorney supervision, prepare and review various legal documents and instruments.
Assist with compliance monitoring program, including testing of investment guidelines; reviewing private side access reports; reviewing/documenting details of any crossing transactions; identifying and documenting any trade errors; chaperoning/documenting expert network calls.
Provide clerical and administrative support to the Legal / Compliance Department.
Assist Compliance Department in managing employees’ personal trading documentation.
Assist in completing AML / KYC requests from counterparties and clients.
Assist with forensic testing for Annual Compliance Review.
Coordinate and maintain Legal and Compliance calendar.
Qualifications and Prior Experience
BS/BA degree is required, Paralegal Certification preferred.
2-4 years of paralegal experience; equivalent experience considered.
Must be extremely detail oriented with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Accuracy, attention to detail with ability to thrive in deadline-driven environment.
Exhibits a high degree of initiative with the ability to work independently, exercises good judgment and completes assignments thoughtfully.
Excellent organizational skills.
Team player attitude.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Highest ethical standards, and ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legal concepts would be helpful.
