Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner

Day Shift. 7 on/ 7 off

Clinical Responsibilities:

The Advanced Practice Provider requires broad clinical knowledge and experience in palliative care.

Mentor physicians and nurses, supporting the primary care team.

Conduct medical and psychosocial evaluations of patients and families.

Active presence in multiple ICUs, implementing palliative care protocols.

Develop and apply screening processes for ICU palliative consults.

Lead discussions on care goals with ICU teams.

Independently follow up on patient consultations and symptom management.

Participate in ICU rounds.

Conduct consults throughout the hospital including the ED

Educational Responsibilities:

Develop policies, procedures, and protocols.

Present in-service sessions on Palliative Care.

Train students, residents on the Palliative Care consult service.

Precept Advance Practice Nurse students.

Additional Activities:

Regular meetings with Palliative Medicine Medical Director.

Maintain Palliative Care continuing education.

Participation in nursing department committees.

Lead or participate in special projects as needed.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education:

  • Required: Master's Degree
  • Specify Degree(s): Advanced Practice Nurse

Minimum Experience:

  • Required: 1 year of experience with inpatient Palliative Medicine is required.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Required:
  • CPR – Basic Life Support
  • Nursing – Current Registered Nurse License - State of Georgia
  • Nursing – National advanced practice certification in adult, geriatrics, or family practice is preferred – State of Georgia
