The Underwriting Support Assistant is responsible for general clerical duties within the Underwriting Department in support of the Underwriting Operations. This job consists of the processing of applications for insurance, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, audits, binders and related material following specific procedures and guidelines under general supervision.
Responsibilities
Rates and/or codes new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations and performs other policyholder service functions.
Accurately enters business data in relevant applications
Maintains policy files in proper order.
Communicates by phone or letter with agents and company departments.
Provides technical assistance in support of the Underwriting Operation.
Interprets and applies verbal and/or written instructions, manuals and rates.
May prepare requests for reports from information or service bureaus.
Keeps work area orderly, clean and safe; ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies, with attention to expenses.
Requirements
High School diploma or its equivalent
Experience with Microsoft Outlook is preferred
Above average communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong attention to detail
Above average typing skills
Able to work as a team player with many different people, both inside and outside of the company
Able to resolve problems and effectively manage time and schedules
