Job Summary

In the role of a Packer Operator, your primary responsibility will be to operate the assigned machine at maximum efficiency to meet production targets. Additionally, you'll collaborate with the Mechanics and Maintenance Manager to perform preventative maintenance, manage parts, and address mechanical issues. Your work will play a critical role in maintaining our company's commitment to quality and integrity while delivering excellence in the markets we serve.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure the daily output efficiency of each manufacturing line performs to or exceeds the daily production goal.
  • Work with the Mechanics and Maintenance Manager on all parts and preventative maintenance needs.
  • Work with the Mechanics and Maintenance Manager to ensure all part numbers and contact information are accurate and ordered promptly.
  • Cross-trained and able to operate all manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with monthly and yearly preventative maintenance schedules on all manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with Mechanics, Maintenance Manager, and OEM vendors on all maintenance and training needs.
  • Responsible for quality control/assurance/defects.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and safe.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the Mechanic and Maintenance Manager
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

We Will Know The Packer Operator Is Successful When

  • Their reports, journals, and logs are prepared accurately, timely, and with a high standard of quality. Average output efficiency performs to or exceeds the daily production goal.
  • Maintaining healthy team relationships with Mechanics, Laborers, and Maintenance Manager.
  • The information provided to the Maintenance Manager is accurate.
  • Ensure customer complaints, quality defects, and internal checks are marginal.
  • Daily start-up and end-day cleanings are performed.
  • Assist with monthly and yearly preventative maintenance needs.

Qualifications

  • Preferred one-year related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with data entry and inventory software and systems.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively in front of groups of customers, employees, and directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply general business concepts using arithmetic, algebra, statistics theory, and probability as required. Ability to perform operations using United States Decimal and Metric units of measurement such as volume, distance, geometric dimensional, and tolerance calculations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer literacy to include knowledge of production operating systems software, basic computer literacy including the ability to use related required programs that may arise; MS Office or equivalent, Project and the ability to learn new software quickly.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing at machinery
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
