Operations Intern

Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Operations Management, Quality, and CNC Manufacturing teams. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of manufacturing operations, quality assurance, and CNC machining. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals in each department to support ongoing projects and initiatives.

Essential Functions

Position Specific Essential Functions

  • Responsible to accomplish specific goals as set out in assigned projects, which may be described within formal or informal plans and/or by way of verbal instructions.
  • Responsible for timely meeting of metrics and milestones for assigned projects.
  • May create, revise, or finalize Work Instructions, individually or in concert with other Employees or departments, relating directly to assigned projects or as otherwise assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized work area in accordance with Company programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains open communication and works with other departments as required or necessary.
  • Contribute to project planning, execution, and documentation under the guidance of department mentors.
  • Participate in meetings, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional discussions related to process improvements and problem-solving.
  • Conduct research, gather data, and prepare reports as required by the internship projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General Essential Functions

  • Responsible for understanding and following all applicable Company Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures.
  • Responsible to adhere to the Company Quality Policy and to understand and follow all applicable Quality Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures.
  • Responsible for properly clocking in and out of M2M/Shop Floor Manager for payroll purposes and review daily time records for accuracy.

Requirements

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Current College Student enrolled in an Engineering, Manufacturing, Machining, or related major.
  • Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply to work assignments.
  • Ability to prioritize/execute to achieve desired project goals with prudence and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly with attention to detail and without excess supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and in a business oriented/professional manner, in writing and verbally, with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize a computer and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and other work-related software.
  • Ability to take direction well with a commitment to results, good listening skills.
  • Courteous and professional demeanor; high level of integrity.
  • Committed to adhering to an established work schedule with zero absences or tardy occurrences.
  • A team player, willing to take on extra tasks as necessary and create/maintain healthy working relationships.

Education & Legal Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. person within the meaning of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Working conditions are normal for both the office and manufacturing environment.
  • Work will involve spending long hours sitting/standing and using office equipment.
  • While performing duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand (for moderate to long periods of time), walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. Other frequent activities include, but are not limited to, push/pull of objects, bending, climbing, balancing, stooping, and twisting (torso).
  • Work may involve lifting materials and product up to 50 pounds.
  • Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and gloves. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
