Our well-established investment management client is looking for a highly capable, self-motivated individual who will take a proactive approach to working alongside the CFO/COO to assist with executing operational, accounting, and compliance responsibilities. Our client is a single strategy, long-only investment manager serving institutional clients (primarily non-profits) with seven full-time employees managing $1.1 billion dollars. Firm started in 2014. This is a 7-person company where this individual will serve as a full member of the team – attend off-sites, receive great pay and benefits. You bring a pleasant attitude, and a high level of capability. Help execute operationally.


Operations Associate

Our client, an investment firm, is looking for an experienced and highly capable individual to support the firm's operations. The person who is hired for this role will support the CFO/COO/CCO with operational, accounting, and compliance responsibilities, along with supporting all the firm’s employees with scheduling and administrative tasks. This individual will also be responsible for many of the day-to-day tasks required to keep the firm running smoothly. This is a broad role that requires attention to detail and consistency of execution.

No job or responsibility should be too big or too small for this person to do. The person that we hire for this role will need to wear a lot of hats. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic who is both the consummate team player and who is comfortable working independently. This role requires someone who takes a proactive approach to their responsibilities and looks to help wherever they can.


The firm manages over $1.1b for institutions, is 100% employee owned, and is based in Chicago.

They invest globally in public equities, and do not short, use leverage, or hedge currency exposure.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create weekly, monthly, and quarterly external and internal reports
  • Enter, check, and process trade files
  • Work with our custodians (BNY Mellon and Northern Trust)
  • Daily and monthly reconciliations using Advent APX
  • Assist with managing our vendors
  • Assist with working with our IT provider on technology and cybersecurity related items
  • Small business bookkeeping, including paying invoices and tracking and processing expense reports
  • Assist reviewing and sending preparatory materials for regulatory filings
  • Assist working with the Funds auditor and tax partner to complete and send out the audited financial statements and K-1’s
  • Onboarding clients and assisting with due diligence requests from clients and prospects
  • Assist with updating and preparing firm materials
  • Assist with managing the process for sourcing and interviewing new college interns each year
  • Arrange travel, including flights, cars, hotels, visas, and other reservations
  • Periodically assist our Research Analysts with data gathering and scheduling requests
  • Handle office management duties such as ordering supplies and lunches
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive and confidential issues
  • Assist with special projects as needed


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial services preferred
  • Strong computer and Internet research skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (primarily Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • A willingness to learn how to use software such as Advent APX and Bloomberg
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with strong follow-through skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Resourcefulness in executing projects
  • Detail-oriented and consistent
  • Collaborative/teamwork attitude and skills a must
  • Positive attitude


SALARY: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with a candidate’s qualifications and experience. Compensation also includes a package of benefits including medical/dental insurance (fully-paid premiums), 401(k) with up to $10,000 match annually, FSA and commuter benefits, paid time off, ten paid holidays, daily company-paid lunch, and a discretionary bonus.


HOURS: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM. This is an on-site job that requires five days per week in the office. There is no travel required.
