Shenandoah University's College of Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for a faculty position (career contract, rank open) in Sociology. Shenandoah University is a comprehensive private institution located in the historic and scenic Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, Virginia, approximately 70 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. The position is full-time and will start in August 2024; an on-campus, in-person presence is expected.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be required to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in sociology, from introductory to upper-level courses, including interdisciplinary studies, and provide academic advising to sociology students. We are specifically interested in finding a dynamic and collaborative faculty member who will re-envision what sociology means within a diverse college of Arts and Sciences.

Required Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in sociology or a closely related terminal degree by the start of the Fall 2024 semester, demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly and professional activities, and experience teaching undergraduate courses.
Preferred Qualifications
We invite applications for a faculty position in Sociology centered on the experiences, struggles, and contributions of marginalized communities broadly speaking. The ideal candidate will have research or teaching experience in one or more of the following themes: social inequality and justice, public health, environmental justice, rural sociology, and sexuality and gender studies. Preference will be given to individuals who utilize an inter and/or multidisciplinary approach.
