The Onshore Civil Engineer oversees the design, permitting, and construction of onshore civil works for large-scale offshore wind projects. Responsibilities include technical verification, contractor coordination, and risk minimization. The role reports to the Onshore Package Manager.
Responsibilities:
Provide design guidance and verify technical aspects of onshore civil works, including substations and duct banks; act as the main contact for contractors and the construction team on civil issues.
Incorporate inputs from soil investigations, geotechnical studies, and environmental studies into design and tender documents; support the micro-siting of onshore export cable routes and coordinate with utilities and municipal services.
Lead civil-related project workstreams, subsurface utility investigations, and prepare and review drawings and materials for local, state, and federal permitting processes.
Collaborate with various teams, including Construction, Commissioning, O&M, and Export Cable; stay updated on civil construction trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies.
Offer strategic advice throughout the project lifecycle, from development to decommissioning.
Ensure high health and safety standards with the HSE team.
Requirements:
Strong experience in civil engineering on large, multi-discipline projects.
Experience with electrical power projects, including HV or LV substations and transmission lines.
In-depth knowledge of current US civil engineering standards and best practices.
BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience; PE license is desirable.
