Online Japanese Instructor - Remote | WFH

Who We Are

We are a leading, accredited online language school seeking Japanese Language Instructors to teach middle and high school Japanese courses in an online setting. Our students, aged between 12 and 18 years old, primarily take Japanese to meet their high school World Language requirement. We offer comprehensive courses ranging from Middle School Levels 1-6+ to conversational and test/prep courses.

Our curriculum aligns with ACTFL standards, emphasizing real-world communication contexts over textbooks. We employ ACTFL Can-Do Statements and project-based learning methodologies, eschewing traditional assessments such as quizzes or exams. While we provide a Resource Library, instructors are encouraged to develop and use their own teaching materials.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

Conduct engaging one-on-one online lessons using Microsoft Teams.

Assign and review homework assignments and projects.

Monitor and report on student progress and grades.

Foster a supportive learning environment focused on student engagement and success.

Demonstrate genuine respect for all students.

Requirements

1-2+ years of experience teaching Japanese, preferably in an online or school setting.

Native-like proficiency in Japanese.

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office.

Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.

Availability in the US time zone (PST) with evening availability preferred.

Additional Details

This position is contract-based. We are an equal-opportunity employer and does not sponsor US work visas. Teachers may receive either international contracts if residing outside the US or US-based contracts for those legally eligible to work in the US. Hourly rates are competitive and based on teaching experience, education, and other relevant qualifications.
