Lead Patient Services at a Trauma Level II Hospital in Detroit, MI

We are actively seeking a visionary and results-oriented Nursing Director to lead the Patient Services department at our partner hospital, a renowned Trauma Level II facility in Detroit, MI. This pivotal role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of patient care and foster a thriving environment for the nursing team.

Job Summary In collaboration with senior leadership and subordinate staff, the Nursing Director will plan, implement, and evaluate processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes within designated units or services. They will ensure that regulatory requirements/standards are communicated, implemented, and monitored. The Nursing Director will collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to plan, implement, and evaluate activities related to department, hospital, and system objectives. They will model customer service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of patient care services, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring alignment with the hospital's mission and values.
  • Quality and Performance Improvement: Champion a culture of excellence in patient care by establishing and upholding rigorous standards, implementing evidence-based practices, and fostering a data-driven approach to quality improvement.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations within the Patient Services department, ensuring efficient resource allocation, optimal staffing levels, and seamless coordination of care across various units.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory and accreditation requirements, ensuring full compliance and proactively addressing any potential issues.
  • Financial Stewardship: Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising the quality of care.
  • Team Development and Engagement: Build a high-performing team of nursing professionals through effective recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing professional development. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that values diversity and empowers staff to reach their full potential.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Champion a patient-centered approach to care, prioritizing exceptional service and addressing patient concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Required: in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. (One of the two degrees must be in Nursing.)
  • Registered Nurse (RN): Licensed to practice in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of combined clinical and/or progressively responsible management experience in a hospital setting.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive change.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, including patients, families, physicians, and staff.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
