Position Summary
Abaci Lab in the Department of Dermatology and Biomedical Engineering seeks candidates to join the laboratory research team as a Short-Term Casual to work on a project to develop advanced skin tissue models and grafts for disease modeling and skin transplantation.
The candidate will work under the direct supervision of the PI and a postdoctoral researcher. The ideal start date is June, but later dates will be considered too.
Responsibilities
In vitro culture of primary skin cells from discarded human skin.
Generation and maintenance of engineered 3D skin constructs.
Design and development of automated system and parts.
Assistance in the analysis of the components of the skin using immunofluorescence, ELISA based assays, and other basic cell biology techniques.
Organization of data for presentations and publications.
Maintenance of tissue culture room and equipment.
Ordering, inventory and other duties necessary to the functioning of research projects.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in bioengineering or biomedical engineering.
The candidate must be familiar with basic laboratory techniques including sterile cell culture.
Experience in 3D-printing, and CAD modelling.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
Experience with photoshop, R, GraphPad is appreciated.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in research laboratory setting.
