Summit Events is a full-service Destination Management Company (DMC) based in Park City, UT and we’re expanding our operations into St. George, UT. Just last year, our dedicated team of 10 full-time staff and 30 hourly staff designed and delivered over 500 corporate events in Park City and Salt Lake City and we’re ready to do more! The growth and excitement around St. George offers Summit Events a great opportunity to bring our brand of creative and collaborative event design, dedication to the guest experience, and emphasis on unique local connections to Southern Utah. We’re seeking an experienced event/hospitality professional to function as a local liaison, sales manager, customized experience designer, and team leader for our new St. George office. New Business Development / Sales Manager

  • Start Date: Mid / Late Summer 2024; may vary based on individual circumstances.
  • Position Type: Full-time, year-round, salary position starting at $ 75,000 per year with sales commission opportunities available. Salary may vary based on experience and skills. Health, dental, vision, automotive, and phone benefits available.
  • Reports to: President, Rob Walsh.
  • Primary Territory: St. George, UT and surrounding area.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the development of a new market segment and the collective sales and operational efforts of Summit Events in St. George and Southern Utah.
  • Identify unique off-site experiences, local activity offerings, event enhancements, entertainment ideas, and appropriate vendors to facilitate.
  • Identify and facilitate prompt and accurate handling of new leads and opportunities.
  • Utilize business process management system to manage new business opportunities from first inquiry, discovery call, proposal, site inspection, budget creation, and operations turnover.
  • Act as liaison between the client, hotel, and vendors as it relates to all aspects of the opportunity and sales efforts.
  • Generate new opportunities using Summit Events’ previous client database and current partner channels.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local hotel staff that are mutually beneficial.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with existing Summit Events clients, company affiliations, associations, local businesses, and visitor/chamber bureaus.
  • Proposal development via Proposify and other CRM software.
  • Manage overall program budget, and estimated program line-item costing documents.
  • Design, plan, and conduct site inspections.
  • Manage client and third-party contract negotiations.
  • Overall client management including sales, operations, and post-program follow-up.
  • Coordinate and attend trade shows, customer visits, and industry networking events.
  • Travel as needed to promote business via trade shows, client presentations, and visits, plus industry events.
  • Occasional site inspections and on-site operational presence/help outside of regular business hours.
  • Attempts must be made with each client or potential client to promote the DMC Network with a goal toward lead generation amongst our network of DMCs.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications                                                                           

  • Experience in hospitality sales, meeting and event planning, or related fields.
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities.
  • Ability to develop and manage program/event budgets.
  • Experience in program line-item costing documents.
  • Experience in effectively handling multiple projects/demands simultaneously.
  • Help develop and maintain strategic partnerships with existing Summit Events clients, company affiliations, associations, local businesses, and visitor/chamber bureaus.
  • Advanced oral and written skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, and other sales software platforms and databases.
  • Valid driver’s license, cell phone, and personal vehicle.
  • Additional nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.


New Business Development / Sales Manager Must Possess & Continually Refine the Following Skills

  • Time management and effective communication with team members, clients, vendors, and industry partners with a high level of tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are required to produce clear communications and expectations.
  • Ability to manage and organize projects from inception to completion resulting in the execution of successful events.
  • Ability to identify and convert new business opportunities.
  • A strong ability and willingness to work in a team environment.
