Position Summary
The New Business Development Director drives sales activities, the acquisition of new business by utilizing their knowledge of the market and existing relationships.
Essential Functions:
- Build pipeline by researching leads, qualifying prospects, and creating opportunities to generate new business as well as continued expansion among existing clients
- Use your knowledge of the market to provide strategic solutions
- Make phone calls to new prospective customers to generate new opportunities and grow book of business
- Schedule customer visits to build strong relationships and conduct Customer Business Reviews
- Build relationships and develop sales strategies to uncover new business opportunities
- Prepare rates and proposals to prospective new clients
- Work collaboratively with Account Managers to onboard and implement new business
- Maintain strategic relationships with client base
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 3years sales experience, within transportation, logistics, and/or supply chain needed to be successful
- Strong phone presence, ability to overcome customer objections and sell DeSpir transportation services with confidence
- Ability to cultivate relationships with VP and C suite levels within organizations
- Proven track record in sales, business development and winning new business through generation of new leads, progressing through sales cycle and creating opportunities
- Knowledge of the operational attention to detail that will be required to succeed within the industry
- Ability to multi-task and work well with others in a fast-paced environment within strict time frames
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Experience using problem-solving, mathematics, and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Entrepreneurial, pro-active spirit
- Must have reliable transportation to make customer visits
- Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel overnight out of town and state
