Network Telecommunications Administrator


The Network Telecommunications Administrator will use extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to maintain and enhance our server infrastructure as well as create and maintain application code. This includes overseeing servers, firewalls and VM platforms. You will develop and maintain web-based applications and other customer software programs for Omni Fiber and Clients. This is a remote, full-time opportunity.

Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 9AM to 6PM Local time. Candidates for the position will be expected to work occasional maintenance window activities (Midnight to 5AM ET) and provide occasional on-call support for escalations off-hours / weekends. Occasional travel is required for team planning sessions and local operations activity at a remote data center or field site. Candidates must have and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a rental car or company vehicle.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a systems administrator for Network servers and services.
  • Monitor system performance and utilization.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade servers and applications.
  • Track vulnerabilities and apply appropriate patches and upgrades.
  • Generate statistics for operational review and planning.
  • Writing, testing, and implementing code for new/existing programs on multiple systems in the company.
  • Develop in-house tools specifically designed for Omni Fiber and clients.
  • Ability to debug problems caused by hardware, operating system software, application programs, or network failures.
  • Identify and correct coding errors to improve performance.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various Omni Fiber operating systems, storage environments, network protocols and file systems
  • Experience using one or more languages: PHP, jQuery/Javascript, Python, Perl, MySQL and others.
  • Familiarity with virtual servers and various hypervisors: VMWare, Proxmox, VirtualBox and others
  • Ability to quickly analyze and pinpoint problems.
  • Ability to travel


Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or university; or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
