Position: Network Operations Supervisor

Description: The Mesquite Independent School District is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Network Operations Supervisor for the Technical Services Department. The appointee will report directly to the Technical Services Department Manager. This position requires supervising all network operations including the network team, infrastructure, network security, server support, enterprise backups and email operations. Duties include establishing procedures and standards to maintain optimum performance and reliability of the network. This position requires making critical decisions in all aspects of the district network. The appointee must be willing to provide and coordinate after-hours support for critical system outages and work overtime as required.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver’s license

Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who

• At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role
• At least 5 years of experience working as a Network Engineer/Administrator or Systems Engineer/Administrator in a domain enterprise environment
• Experience managing department budgets, inventory cycle replacements, and E-rate
• Network infrastructure engineering, implementation, and design
• Understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, routing, and firewall configuration
• Network Security (NERC CIP and NIST CSF)
• NAC solution
• Proficient in managing and maintaining Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and domain services
• Experience with administering and managing server operating systems, such as Windows Server and Linux distributions
• Knowledge of server hardware components and the ability to troubleshoot hardware-related issues
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) for creating and managing virtual machines
• Proficiency with enterprise SAN hardware and software
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like SolarWinds for real-time performance monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning
• Skill in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for security and configuration management
• Knowledge of on-premise email systems (e.g., Microsoft Exchange) and cloud-based email solutions (e.g., Office 365)
• Experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning to ensure data integrity and availability
• Have extensive experience with enterprise network applications
• Have experience managing network projects or deployment
• Are highly organized and detail oriented and able to work in a high-pressure environment
• Possess strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
• Manages contractors and consultants on a per-project basis
