Develops plans, designs, identifies resource requirements, and cost estimates for construction and support involving enterprise high availability multi-platform networks with an emphasis on WAN and VPN technologies. Plans and coordinates cross-functional or cross-company work, change management and resource availability. Monitors systems operations and adjusts operational plans accordingly. Acts as a lead and/or technical resource to lower-level Network engineers.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Designs and implements complex network configurations and network architecture, including hardware and software technology, site locations, business continuity, disaster recovery, and integration of technologies
Serves as one of the company’s top network engineering expert resources in these disciplines: Core routing and switching; Network security and diagnostics
Assesses and resolves the most complex data network problems and incidents
Reviews analyses and technical feasibility to develop data network deployment strategies
Assesses and reviews data network growth forecasts and to ensure that business needs are translated into network capacity requirements
Leads and supports efforts to resolve data network problems and incidents through root cause analysis and study of potential network deficits
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company
Be on-call 24x7 to provide network escalation on-site or remote support at any time when called upon
Maintains sensitive and confidential information regarding company information
Coordinates with multi-platform business and technical colleagues on various project implementations
Performs related duties as assigned
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education And Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience. Seven years of experience with Service Provider networking or general telecommunications experience. Prior network management experience with a managed service provider strongly preferred.

Advanced enterprise networking fundamentals, including complex switching and routing knowledge, high availability system designs skills, advanced network security design skills, Internet services and protocols knowledge, advanced network diagnostics capabilities
Advanced knowledge of current technologies, tools, applications, and vendors
Effective oral and written communication; analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
Demonstrate expert proficiency in three of the following technologies and advanced skills and knowledge in the balance: Core routing; Core switching; Network security; Network diagnostics; and Application load balancing
Top expert level analysis and design skills involving the ability to gather data on systems issues, define alternative approaches, assess business impact, recommend – develop - implement cost effective solutions
