Network Engineer III
Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer III in Charlotte, NC. This role involves working closely with requesters to process firewall tickets, create security policies, and resolve issues, ensuring a secure and efficient network environment. Key Responsibilities:

Kforce has a client that is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer III in Charlotte, NC. This role involves working closely with requesters to process firewall tickets, create security policies, and resolve issues, ensuring a secure and efficient network environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and process firewall tickets using our ticketing system
- Work directly with requesters to understand and fulfill their network and security needs
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of tickets, providing updates and feedback to requesters as necessary
- Configure and manage Palo Alto firewalls, ensuring optimal performance and security
- Develop and implement security policies to protect the network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve any firewall-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of network issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
- Manage and maintain routing and switching infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient network operations
- Work through any issues that case owners may have, providing guidance and support to ensure resolution
- Build out network configurations based on requester requirements, ensuring they meet all necessary specifications and security standards
- Educate requesters on how the network solutions are supposed to work, providing training and documentation as needed
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure cohesive and comprehensive network support
- Utilize automation tools to streamline network management and improve efficiency
- Implement automated solutions for common network tasks, reducing manual effort and error
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or a related role
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, with a particular focus on ticketing systems, Palo Alto firewalls, troubleshooting, routing, switches, and firewall functionality
- Extensive experience with ticketing systems for managing network requests and incidents
- Proficiency in managing and configuring Palo Alto firewalls
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues
- In-depth knowledge of routing and switching technologies
- Solid understanding of firewall functionality and security policy implementation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with requesters and team members
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto Networks) are highly desirable
- Background in network automation and experience with automation tools
- Familiarity with Cherwell or similar IT service management tools
