We're seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team! This role is based in our vibrant River North headquarters in Chicago. This position requires working onsite three days per week.

You configure, turn-up and support Nitel-managed hardware in the field. You’ process orders, maintain and monitor managed hardware health, manage the uptime record, play a part in team growth/development, and handle both planned and unplanned network events. You love collaboration and teamwork as you work together with the Provisioning, NOC, and Engineering teams at Nitel.

Review and validate core hardware configurations for customer orders
Configure, ship and turn-up managed equipment for customer sites
Actively monitor and maintain existing managed equipment for customer sites
Identify technical problems and identify suitable solutions
Process disconnects and return of managed equipment from customer sites
Order, process and track inventory in department database
Closely manage various support applications including Solarwinds, Tacacs, Rancid
Share technical and work knowledge and experience with Network Analyst ls
Meet quality, productivity, turnaround time and other expectations
Contribute to continuous process improvement to ensure high level of customer satisfaction and to reduce disconnects
Maintain professional and technical up-to-date knowledge of hardware by reading periodicals and attending job-related seminars/courses
Adhere to policies, procedures and Nitel professional code of conduct
Perform other duties as assigned to support the continued success of self, team, department and Nitel
Skills You Bring To The Field
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Network Engineering, Computer Networking or related field)
Minimum of two (2) years of overall relevant experience, preferred
Minimum of 1 year of experience with Cisco Routers
Strong technical expertise with 2 years of hands-on experience in networking technologies with a particular subject expertise in applications networking, IP network hardware, routing protocols, high availability network monitoring, network security, and/or VoIP
Working knowledge of Cisco Routers, Firewalls and Switches
Working knowledge of Adtran Router, IAD’s, and IP Phones
Working knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Knowledge of Internet Access Technologies (T1, Ethernet, Ethernet over Copper, DS3) IPv4 and IPv6 Sub-netting and assignments
Working knowledge of MPLS, VPN, Layer 2/3, and Point-to-Point networks IPSEC/SSL VPN Tunnels Site to Site and Remote Access Tunnels
CCNA/CCNP certs, a plus
Strong organization and trouble-shooting skills
Ability to simplify and explain technical information to others
Good project management skills
