Education Required: Computer Information Technology or related field degree.

Years' Experience Required: 3+ years' experience.

  • Operationally, you will ensure the network is reliable, scalable, secure, and capable of meeting our current and future business needs
  • Network Implementation: Implement network solutions, including hardware, software, and configuration changes
  • Deploy and maintain network components
  • Capacity Planning: Monitor network capacity requirements and ensure the network can handle increased traffic and new technologies
  • Security: Implement and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and access controls
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network resources for maximum efficiency and reliability
  • Network Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration files, and inventory lists
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network infrastructure with business goals

Primary responsibility: Senior Networking Administrator with a heavy focus on Firewall Administration.

Secondary responsibilities could include would be security, patching, server administration. This can largely be determined by skillset of the hired individual.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Defines, designs, and implements network communications and solutions. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manages load configuration of central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, installing, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May train other employees on system. Provides technical analysis in data network planning, engineering, and design. Provides analysis for implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to network problems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Coordinates thirdparty maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoots problems with department users and department network administrators. May develop uniform operation procedures. Provides operational support for the organization's Local Area Networks (LANs); Wide Area Networks (WANs); and Metro Area Networks (MANs). Monitors LAN, WAN, and MAN performance, maintains security to ensure that procedures are implemented and enforced, and troubleshoots problems. Evaluates and recommends hardware, software and telecommunication equipment that meet users' needs. SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects from design to implementation while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education (typically University).DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS Autonomy: Established and productive individual contributor. Works independently with general supervision on larger, moderately complex projects / assignments. Organizational Impact: Sets objectives for own job area to meet the objectives of projects and assignments. Contributes to the completion of project milestones . May have some involvement in cross functional assignments. Innovation and Complexity: Problems and issues faced are general, and may require understanding of broader set of issues or other job areas but typically are not complex . Makes adjustments or recommends enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.

Communication and Influence: Communicates primarily and frequently with internal contacts . External interactions are less complex or problem solving in nature. Contacts others to share information, status, needs and issues in order to inform, gain input, and support decisionmaking. Leadership and Talent Management: May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and / or employee in Support Career Stream.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Requires a University Degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
