Network Administrator - Tier III (Remote)

Vero Broadband was founded in Colorado in 2022 to build fiber networks for underserved schools. Since that time, we have grown to serve over 50 school districts throughout the US and have expanded our focus to serve the broader community including both residential and business customers. We now have multiple fiber networks supporting communities across Colorado and we are making plans for more in 2023.

The primary function of this remote position is to provide advanced technical support to Vero Network Administrators, Customer Support, and interact with Network Engineering for collaborative insight to network related issues.

The individual will monitor and manage the Vero Broadband network and the availability of its’ products and services. Performs evaluation, testing and coordination of network outage repair. Manages vendors, addresses escalations, and conducts other duties related to maintaining the Vero Broadband network.

This team member will be required to work independently and under minimal supervision, will perform a wide spectrum of moderately difficult assignments requiring analysis, innovation, and judgement. Assumes responsibility of routine tasks. Has strong internal and external networking skills. And acts as the primary technical leader within the Vero Network Operations Center. The team member will be required to have constant interaction with Technical Support and Engineering teams.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Monitoring of internal and external network assets across a multi-vendor environment
  • Carry’s out triage of network faults and proactively escalates issues as required
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting/diagnostics to identify problem areas for resolution
  • Prioritizes the repair of network faults to meet SLAs, including resource management of internal team members and external contractors
  • Provides collaborative tier 3 level network technical support, notifications and escalation
  • Tracks trouble resolutions, provides ticket updates and other important details to internal and external customers
  • Coordinates and dispatches field technicians and outside plant team members to perform maintenance and repairs of network faults
  • Participates in quality control, performance / process improvement and assists with network documentation and developing policies and procedures
  • Assists in identifying training needs and establishing training processes and programs
  • Mentor team members and provide feedback to support teams regarding troubleshooting, repair and full-filling work requests.
  • Perform root cause analysis on all network issues
  • Task management and provision telecommunication services within internal and external locations. Vendor coordination and management of moves, adds changes and deletion of network service requests, not limited to but including system administration of network management systems
  • Creates technical documentation and makes improvements to processes and procedures
  • Perform preventative maintenance for network hardware and software upgrades
  • Conducts fault isolation and repair on all network elements
  • Responsible for alarm acknowledgement, fault identification & fault management; Which includes logging troubles, analysis, support team dispatch and fault resolution
  • Ensuring service availability and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) targets are met

Key Skills and Experience:

  • 8-10+ years’ experience within the telecommunications industry with a proven record of accomplishment in an network operations environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot Transport and IP network and service troubles on DWDM / SDH and Ethernet networks
  • Advanced troubleshooting, analytical, and diagnostics skills
  • Experience with Calix XGS-PON E7, Juniper Router (Junos), Cisco, Microtech routers and configuration management.
  • Experience with Cambium, LTE & Fixed Wireless platforms - Telrad, Ubuity GPON Suklu Radio, Drangowave Radio, ZTE GPON, KEA DHCP servers and power DNS
  • Highly proficient in Google Workspace or Office 365
  • 5+ years of experience in managing and working with LANs/WANS, TCP, UDP, IP, VoIP phones, routers, and switches required
  • 5+ years of experience in task management and project management required
  • Certificate from College or Tech School Computer Science related or relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) Computer Science preferred or relevant work experience
