The Network Administrator shall be responsible for ensuring the stable operations of the computer networks. This includes administration and planning of all aspects of Information Management Technology (IMT) network infrastructure, to include network equipment, servers, switches and software applications. The Network Administrator brings in reliable, durable, and cost-effective solutions for all IMT related needs. This position shall report directly to the IMT manager.

The Network Administrator shall be responsible for ensuring the stable operations of the computer networks. This includes administration and planning of all aspects of Information Management Technology (IMT) network infrastructure, to include network equipment, servers, switches and software applications. The Network Administrator brings in reliable, durable, and cost-effective solutions for all IMT related needs. This position shall report directly to the IMT manager.
Essential Functions
- Works under the direction of the Network Operations Manager/Network Architect; this position requires excellent technical, customer service, and organizational skills to support network operations for customer connections, administrative personnel, and staff. This position requires the ability to function successfully in both team and independent work environments.
- Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco, Juniper, HP, Nortel, and Extreme network equipment.
- Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure.
- Provide Network, Hardware and Software support both locally and remotely for FMU.
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices (i.e. switches, routers, and long wired and wireless equipment).
- Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA’s.
- Manage & troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
- Work closely with the fellow tech team members to provide end-user support and issue resolution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and technologies.
- Research, evaluate and recommend technologies to support business requirements.
- Coordinate with the rest of the MIS team to meet the team objectives.
- Provide emergency 24 x 7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of IMT.
- The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relates to the position.
- Ability to handle information that’s sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
- Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
- Significant experience working with Windows servers and network monitoring tools.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- A bachelor’s degree (master degree preferred), in Networking, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
- At least 2-3 years of experience working with networking equipment specifically, including maintenance and upgrades, education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
