National Sales Director

Overview

This is a key leadership position reporting to the VP/GM Oticon and responsible for leading the national sales force for the Oticon Independent channel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing 8 Regional Managers and 50+ Account Managers throughout the US. The main focus is to motivate, performance manage and develop the sales force to leverage the appropriate sales strategies, tactics and tools to achieve sales growth through both customer acquisition and in growing the existing customer base. The National Director of Sales must possess strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, along with a deep understanding of the industry and market dynamics. The role requires a proven track record in sales leadership, the ability to adapt to changing market conditions, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, Coach and Develop the Oticon Independent Team
    • This role will be 75% field based, focused on dedicated time with customers and the Oticon Independent team.
    • Lead a team 8 Regional Managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to drive performance and growth.
    • Coach, develop and performance management of the Oticon Independent team to ensure retention of top performers, development of consistent performers and driving accountability to the expectations for under performers.
    • Proficiency in recruiting, training, and managing a high-performing sales team.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to enhance team morale and productivity

  • Sales Strategy Execution
    • Deliver or exceed sales performance goals for the Oticon Independent team.
    • Ensure alignment and execution of sales playbooks and training programs for the sales team consistently throughout all the regions.
    • Partner to optimize resource deployment, territory planning, sales quotas, and incentive programs.
    • Partner to development of sales forecasts, budgets, and long-term planning based on data and insights.
    • Partner to implement and manage sales analytics tools, systems, and processes to support data-driven decision-making.
    • Implement best practices, sales methodologies, and automation tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaboration, Alignment and Partnership
    • Successfully partner with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Learning and Development, IT and finance, to ensure alignment and synergy in business initiatives both in the US and Global.
    • Partner with Independent Strategic Accounts for key customers and buying groups to ensure development and execution of growth strategies.
    • Partner with Sales Operations team for optimization of team resources, ensuring collaboration and accountability with Inside Sales, Regional Audiology and other support roles to drive growth and meet customer’s needs.
    • Partner with Business Development team to drive loyalty and commitment contracts with our customers.
    • Partner with Marketing and Sales Leadership by acting as an integral link with customers determining market needs, new product / service ideas and competitive information.
    • Partner with INDY Leadership team and operations to ensure accurate and timely forecasting for production and supply
  • Customer Engagement
    • Build and maintain relationships with the top customers.
    • Create a deep understanding of customer needs and communicate internally to ensure we have innovated the ideal solutions.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and implement adjustments to sales strategies and customer needs.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years hearing industry experience and a strong business acumen. Additional Audiology degree, Finance degree, MBA or 10+ years of comparable working experience in Business Development preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial, enterprise mindset combined with:

  • Strong financial and analytical skills, you are able to condense a large amount of information into concise recommendations and strategic narratives.
  • Professional skills in PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI and Salesforce.com.
  • Creative, strategic thinker with a ‘can-do’ attitude, having the ability to work individually and adapt to new topics quickly.
  • Curious mindset to stay abreast of industry events and trends.
  • A team player, strong communication and presentation skills and experience with key stakeholders’ interaction.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team.
  • Experience in creating a strong performance management culture and ability to support ongoing organizational change with successful results
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet occasional tight deadlines. Ability to routinely work on multiple tasks with multiple people while effectively prioritizing.
  • Fluent understanding of income statement, Balance sheet, contracts and UCC filings
  • Confidence in making strategic decisions based on data, market trends, and organizational priorities.
  • Ability to make timely decisions, especially in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
