Multilingual Learner Program Manager & Academic Advisor

The Opportunity: Skilled US (formerly PLA University) seeks a dedicated professional to serve as the Multilingual Learner Program Manager & Academic Advisor. This dual-role position focuses on providing specialized instruction for multi-language learning students and managing the overall program to ensure compliance with federal requirements. The successful candidate will also guide students in their academic and personal development journey, maximizing student success and supporting adult learners in making positive, long-term life changes.

The Details:

Key Deliverables:

Multilingual Learner Program Manager:

  • Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for multi-language learning students according to their Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Create a flexible program and learning environment that builds confidence in High School Equivalency (HSE), General Educational Development (GED), and English Language proficiency (ELP,ELL,ESL) with supplemental aids, accommodations, and supports
  • Ensure timely communication with parents regarding participants' EL status and program-related information
  • Offer assistance to foster joint productive activities for HSE/GED/ELL
  • Assist in providing training on instructional expectations for ELs, including ILPs and WIDA Standards implementation
  • Facilitate and implement the formal monitoring process for students who have exited services
  • Provide HSE/GED/EL expertise in various school-based processes, including case conferences for ELs with disabilities and high-ability programming referrals
  • Assess and evaluate EL progress using State progress monitoring processes
  • Oversee the development and implementation of ILPs, ensuring tutors and participants have access to and are implementing accommodations and modifications
  • Administer placement tests and annual assessments
  • Provide professional development for staff on best practices and data analysis
  • Work directly with the Regional Executive director to develop and implement school-wide goals around graduation outcomes, enrollment needs, student achievement, retention, etc
  • Set and maintain a high-performance culture for staff and students
  • Participate in student recruitment, enrollment, and outreach efforts

Academic Advisor:

  • Assess students' academic, career, and personal development goals and design student success plans accordingly
  • Collaborate with academic colleagues to develop academic advising protocols and programs to retain students
  • Provide supportive assistance with workshops, training, and group sessions
  • Spearheaded projects with existing vendors and engaged with new vendors for new programs and partnerships
  • Maintain ongoing communication with students, educational partners, and community partners
  • Support all workshops and group sessions to enhance student engagement and success

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • This Hybrid position requires in-person interaction with students, training partners, and community partners as needed
  • Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards, Indiana Graduation Pathways, Next Level Programs of Study, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills
  • Experience in teaching high school-aged students in a nontraditional or adult education setting
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals who have faced educational barriers
  • Technical knowledge of G Suite and MS Office, as well as student information systems
  • Bilingual skills are an added advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree in subject specialty and a current Indiana English as a New Language (ENL) Professional Educator license. (If the applicant does not have, must be willing to earn while Skilled US will accommodate with funding)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Higher Education, or a related field of study, or four years of related experience
  • Two years of experience advising or admissions within adult student services
  • Proficiency in working with spreadsheets (Excel), databases, and CRM platforms like Salesforce or HubSpot
  • Understanding of career advising and education best practices
