Experience:
Candidate shall possess a minimum of four (4) years logistical experience, with at least two (2) years in a Navy or Marine Corps environment.

Additional Qualifications:

Candidate must pass a periodic physical examination as specified by NAVMED P-117 published by the BUMED and Surgery.

Candidate must provide a verifiable and valid MHE license and medical certificate. Each MHE operator must possess a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate or proof of a current medical examination document on their license. Additionally this document must be carried on their person during working hours for inspection purposes.

Job Description:

The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.

This Worker may monitor and control movement of material and parts along conveyor system, using remote-control panel board, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes and using adding machine; compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck; may compile perpetual production records in order to locate material in process of production, using manual or computerized system, and maintain employee records.

The Material Coordinator manages the procurement, inventory, and distribution of materials and supplies, ensuring compliance with standards and providing support to various operational needs.

Key Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

  • Receive and identify Navy & Marine Corp aircraft/shipboard Depot Level Repairable (DLR) components.
  • Apply technical knowledge to update National Stock Numbers (NSNs) where possible.
  • Ensure materials meet condition codes and serviceability standards.
  • Operate forklifts for loading/unloading trucks and perform minor maintenance as required.
  • Manage documentation such as 1348-1 proofs of receipt and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
  • Handle and reject non-ATAC DLR items and uncertified hazardous materials.
  • Record receipt and shipping data in designated databases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government regulations.
  • Verify material identification through physical inspection and cross-reference with database records.
  • Generate shipping documentation (e.g., BC2 1348-1, shipping manifest) for Transaction Item Reporting (TIR) and Proof of Delivery/Shipment (POD/POS).
  • Package and crate materials according to NAVSUP Publication Packaging Instructions 700 (P700).
  • Maintain Wood Packaging Material (WPM) qualifications and ensure inventory accuracy of WPM stamps.
  • Conduct quarterly spot inventories and annual Wall-to-Wall inventories to reconcile stock levels.
  • Refurbish and clean DLR containers, ensuring they meet shipping standards and removing outdated labels and information.
  • Create barcode labels for non-automated systems using PC/barcode printers.
  • Ensure all routine and expedited material processes are completed within specified timelines.
  • Maintain proficiency in ERP systems for inventory management and ensure all team members have current access and training.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and perform hazardous material certifications as required.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, Report of Discrepancies (RODs), and Transportation Discrepancy Reports (TDRs) promptly and professionally.
