About The Role
Are you passionate about leading and developing teams while making a positive impact? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As our Underwriting Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring that our underwriters are equipped with the knowledge and skills to uphold our lending standards and provide exceptional service. Located in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, or Arkansas, you'll oversee the performance and development of our underwriting team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Monitor the overall pipeline and workload distribution, ensuring efficiency and adherence to timelines.
Provide guidance and coaching to the underwriting team to achieve and exceed performance goals.
Conduct regular reviews of loan applications to maintain compliance with underwriting standards and regulations.
Address outstanding findings from audit reports and implement corrective actions.
Identify and capitalize on training opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry trends, recommending policy updates as needed.
Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders to streamline processes and facilitate file progression.
Participate in recruitment, performance management, and retention efforts.
Serve as a mentor and role model, embodying our company values and ethics.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
7-10 years of progressive experience in loan underwriting, with at least 5 years in a supervisory/management role.
Expert knowledge of mortgage lending processes, regulations, and documentation requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and internal systems.
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with occasional travel to remote locations.
Moderate noise level in the office environment.
