Mortgage Loan Processor

Role

To collect, verify and evaluate loan documentation such as debt to income ratios, credit reports, income sources, and other documentation to prepare and submit detailed loan files for underwriting and closing.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Collects, verifies and organizes loan files for submission to underwriting and closing.
  • Ensures that all information is correct on current loan application before submitting to underwriting.
  • Orders 3rd party services as assigned for each loan product.
  • Manages pipeline to ensure that all closing dates are met.
  • Answers applicant’s incoming calls and emails regarding loan status in a timely manner. Point of contact for applicants during the loan process.
  • Requests updated or additional documentation from applicants as needed.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements

  • Communicate underwriting decisions to involved parties within 1 business day of decision.(Denials to be communicated by MLO)
  • Ensure FSCU policies along with both State and Federal regulatory compliance standards are followed at all times with a high attention to detail.
  • Provide friendly, accurate, professional service to members and associates by responding to phone calls, messages and correspondence within 1 business day.
  • Meet or exceed the minimum established individual goals each month.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all mortgage and home equity products.
  • Demonstrate exceptional attendance and punctuality practices.
  • Team Player – Ability to work with others in all areas of the Mortgage Department and the Credit Union. Follow all FSCU Standards, Traits and Behaviors as defined in the FSCU Compass.
  • Timely Processing of all loan files within 3 business days unless extenuating circumstances.

Knowledge And Skills

Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills: Must have good communication skills. 10-key calculator, typewriter, and keyboard skills.
