Job Responsibilities
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Bacteriology, Microbiology or a closely related field is required.
Experience Requirements
One (1) year of experience in laboratory work dealing with bacteriology, serology or virology is required.
License Requirements
None.
PREFERENCES
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
Preferences will be given to applicants who have experience in molecular diagnostic techniques (sequencing preferred) with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a bacteriology laboratory.

SALARY INFORMATION
GRANT FUNDED
Grant positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.

- Performs, analyzes, and interprets highly complex bacteriological tests according to established laboratory procedures, ensuring quality control standards are met.
- Performs next generation sequencing.
- Implements protocols to increase capacity for the molecular detection and confirmation of carbapenem-resistant organisms.
- Works with appropriate stakeholders and epidemiology partners to ensure proper communication and reporting of data.
- Assures quality control standards are met including CAP/CLIA regulations.
