Merchandise Planner

Job Summary

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for maximizing sales and profitability? We are looking for a Merchandise Planner to take on category-level responsibility for our seasonal planning process. In this role, you will develop and implement merchandise planning strategies, analyze historical sales data and current trends, and forecast future demand to ensure optimal product availability and turnover. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, purchasing, sourcing, design, and marketing, to align on product strategy and present insightful performance reports to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement merchandise planning strategies to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Analyze historical sales data and current market trends to accurately forecast future demand.
  • Monitor and manage in-season sales performance to project changes in demand and ensure optimal product availability and turnover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, purchasing, sourcing, design, and marketing, to align on product strategy.
  • Prepare and present detailed merchandise performance reports and insights to senior leadership.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving inventory management and turnover rates.
  • Conduct regular reviews of product assortments to ensure alignment with sales objectives and market trends.
  • Utilize advanced analytics tools and software to enhance forecasting accuracy and decision-making processes.
  • Participate in the development and execution of promotional and markdown strategies to optimize product lifecycle.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and competitive landscape to proactively adjust planning strategies and drive business growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • 4-6 years of experience in merchandise planning or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of merchandise planning principles and practices, including proficiency in merchandise planning software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of retail math and metrics.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with cross-functional partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while developing and executing merchandise planning strategies that align with business goals.
