Mental Health Therapist, Health Start

As our School-Based Mental Health Therapist, you'll help students dealing with a range of emotional and behavioral challenges. Your mission is to provide counseling and support to help our students soar as part of a multidisciplinary clinic team. You will work alongside other clinic staff who provide medical care, nutritional counseling and health education to the students of SPPS. You'll be an integral part of our school community, working closely with educators and parents.

  • Create and implement interventions and programs that promote mental wellness throughout our school.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff, teachers, school support staff and parents to create a holistic approach to student success.
  • Use your extraordinary listening skills to identify early signs of mental health issues and provide timely, life-changing interventions.
  • May need to assess mental health emergencies and engage in crisis intervention.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Does not include supervision of other staff.
  • May include supervision of volunteers or interns.
  • May provide clinical supervision to other providers in the organization if they meet the requirements.
  • Works within the scope of the job description with general direction and consults others as needed.

Work Environment

Primary environment is home office, administrative office, or clinical office. This role requires regular walking. This role may come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This role is in a school clinic, and the scheduled hours are during the 42-week school year. There might be opportunity for hours during school breaks, based on availability.

Qualifications

  • Licensed or Pre-Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LGSW/LICSW, LPC/LPCC, LAMFT/LMFT, or equivalent).
  • A passion for working with young minds and a genuine desire to make a difference.
  • Exceptional communication skills to convey complex emotions and ideas in an accessible way.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development, because even superheroes need to keep learning.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • LGSW ,LICSW, LAMFT, LMFT preferred
  • 5 years experience working in a mental health setting
  • Bilingual Spanish/Hmong preferred
