Mental Health Therapist (Bilingual/Spanish Required)

Base pay range

$55,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr
General Summary: Overall responsibility for service delivery and record keeping of mental health services for children at assigned location(s).

Mental Health Services

  • Assess client to determine needed level of care.
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plan including specified structure, goals, and objectives.
  • Continuously review and re-evaluate clients’ needs for symptoms and behaviors and adjust treatment plan accordingly.
  • Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, helping them to develop insight into themselves or their relationships.
  • Guide clients (individuals or groups) in the development of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems by using behavior health interventions with clients.
  • Maintain regular communication with the parents/guardians of clients.
  • Maintain regular communication with school personnel, including meeting with the school counselors, school psychiatrist, principal, or designated staff as assigned.
  • Provide mental health crisis intervention as needed.
  • Refer to other Completely KIDS programs as needed or appropriate.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines established by the agency.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, and clean work environment.
  • Observe and consult on behavior plans/strategies for agency youth as requested.
  • Provide Strengthening Families programming as needed as well as other skill building groups as needed.
  • Refer clients to ongoing services as needed.


Administration/Record Keeping

  • Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork as required including all required consent forms.
  • Maintain data accuracy including data maintenance and entry into appropriate databases in accordance with agency standards.
  • Keep all client names and information and other agency business confidential.
  • Attend and participate in agency and community training opportunities and meetings as requested.
  • Ensure compliance of agency guidelines and grant/partnership requirements.
  • Identify funding opportunities for the agency and write grants as requested.
  • Complete all agency and grant reports on time and at 100% accuracy.
  • Maintain and update succession plans and safety plans annually.
  • Understand and follow Completely KIDS’ policies and procedures at all times.
  • Work with agency employees to seek out donations, build partnerships, and maximize program budgets to enhance all agency programs and initiatives.
  • Follow up on all written and verbal communications within 24 hours.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.


Direct Supervision:

  • Meet with supervisor as required.
  • Discuss treatment strategy and client progress with Supervisor as required.
  • Continue personal and professional growth and development through reading, research, workshops, seminars and other strategies which will broaden knowledge on therapeutic approaches and techniques and support the maintenance of the mental health practitioner’s license.

Work Experience:

  • 2-3 years of direct service experience working with at-risk youth and families preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance that meets agency requirements
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Active involvement in community organizations or coalitions preferred


Education Level:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Family Therapy from an accredited college or university required.


Licensure, Certifications, and other Designations: PLMHP License required

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Work is generally performed within a school and/or office environment. Position requires flexibility with work hours to accommodate program sites (so schedule is typically 10am-6pm M-F, with some additional evening and weekend work as required).
