Mental Health Officer - Corrections (Night Shift)

Job Summary

VieMed Healthcare Staffing is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Mental Health Officers to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting regular psych checks to ensure the safety and well-being of inmates. This position requires minimal contact with inmates, focusing primarily on observation and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health or security and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment. Pay:

Early/Day Shift: $26.50/hr, $39.75/OT

Night/Weekends: $28.50/hr, $42.75/OT Job Type:

Full-time Key Responsibilities

Conduct hourly, 30-minute, and 15-minute checks on inmates, depending on their risk level and location within the facility.

Monitor inmates through direct observation and video surveillance to ensure their safety.

Report any incidents or concerns to jail staff and complete necessary documentation.

Carry and use a handheld device to scan QR codes for recording check progress.

Maintain communication with Control and fellow staff using provided radios.

Adhere to facility protocols for entering and exiting secure areas, always ensuring safety and compliance.

Wear Provided Uniforms And Maintain a Professional Appearance. Requirements

Minimum 18 years of age.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

No felony convictions.

Ability to work in a loud and sometimes chaotic environment.

Availability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, or special shifts.

Physical ability to stand, sit, lift, squat, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods.

Must not use Medical Marijuana, even if prescribed.

Maintain Confidentiality Regarding Facility And Inmate Information. Training

Initial 1-day training for psych checks, followed by up to 3 additional days of on-site training. Shifts and Schedule:

Full-time, 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week.

Early shift: 6 am to 2 pm (with a 6:00 am briefing)

Day shift: 2 pm to 10 pm (with a 6:00 pm briefing)

Night shift: 10 pm to 6 am

Overtime and extra shifts available, with an 18-hour daily maximum.

Specialty schedules available: 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week. Additional Information:

Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.

No involvement in emergency roles such as riot control or physical discipline.

Personal Cell Phones Prohibited In Secure Areas. Benefits
