Mental Health Clinician - School Based

Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is housed at the Department of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 65 Forest Drive, Varnville, SC 29944.

Provides direct clinical services to children, adolescents, and their families in the clinic/school setting. Provides assessments, individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy as appropriate/indicated. Also provides crisis management services as needed. Ensures documentation of all services provided following established standards.

Provides consultation/education activities and case management on behalf of our consumers to community agencies as requested, under the supervision of the Hampton Clinic Director as well as guidance from the CAF coordinator.

Participates in weekly team staffings with other mental health professionals, as well as attend and participate in CAF Staffings as scheduled.

Provides consultation and assists in coordination of hospital admissions and placement of children and adolescents under supervision of Hampton Clinic Director and guidance from CAF Coordinator. Provides follow-up after discharge.

Participates in school related activities such as PTO’s, classroom presentations, and other extra-curricula-related activities in support of client (student) relations as approved by direct supervisor.

Other: Provides other related duties and limited consultation/educational activities in the community upon request and approval by supervisor

Coastal Empire CMHC is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000.00 to employees of NHSC - approved sites. You must be a US Citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired, and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two year service commitment required as well. Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

If any agency requirements are listed below, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.

State: A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

AGENCY: Master’s degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences; 1 yr experience in a clinical counseling program; and state licensure or licensure eligible.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
