Who We Are

The Richmond Academy of Medicine Services Corporation provides a variety of management services for statewide medical societies.  We are experienced medical society professionals who focus on the details of everyday management of membership-based organizations so that volunteer boards can focus on their future.

Job description

·        This roll up your sleeves position is responsible managing statewide medical societies including: Event Planning, Financial Oversight and Board Relations.

·        Responsible for communicating with the Board of Directors and following up with tasks as assigned by the Board. Responsible for planning in-person or virtual Board meetings which includes scheduling the meetings, planning the agenda, attending the meetings, and writing minutes.

·        Plans annual weekend conferences and other events, which includes site selection, coordinating with the venue, speakers, attendees, and vendors, completing the CME application, and marketing of the event. Staffs the conference and proactively handles any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day. Events are either in-person or virtual.

·        Maintains the expenditures of each society's meeting within the allocated budget.

·        Performs additional responsibilities related to the success of the membership-based organization.


Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

·        Strongly prefer a Bachelor’s degree in communications or related area.

·        Minimum of 3 years professional services or business support role working with a variety of clients and communication styles.

·        Highly organized, attentive to detail, accurate, and efficient.

·        Ability to multi-task; Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and effectively manage multiple projects.

·        Excellent written and speaking communication skills along with phone confidence and etiquette.

·        Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

·        Ability to work well under pressure in meeting deadlines.

·        Ability to exhibit sound judgment in making decisions.

·        Comfort with fast-paced environments is a must.

·        Assertiveness and leadership skills.

·        Experience with creating and maintaining budgets.

·        Knowledge of Continuing Medical Education applications procedures highly desirable.

·        General computer proficiency; Knowledge of other standard office equipment, including copier, fax, telephone, and postage machine.

·        Skilled with MS office, Adobe, and Outlook; data entry and database management. Skilled at video conferencing and social media.

·        Knowledge of Constant Contact, Canva, GoDaddy, Jotform, and Google Drive desirable.

·        Experience in a membership-based organization; working with a wide range of personalities highly desirable.

·        Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday with some schedule flexibility. After successful in person training period, this position can be remote. Candidate must live in the Richmond, VA area.

·        Overnight travel about twice per year for two to three days (typically weekends) at a time to facilitate fast-paced events.

·        Occasional evening conference calls.

·        Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance.

·        Must successfully complete pre-employment background screening.
