Job Title: Medical Science Liaison - Rare Diseases


Location: California (Remote with Travel)

Position Summary: The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Rare Diseases will serve as a key scientific resource and liaison between the company and the medical community. This role is essential in fostering strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and academic institutions to support our rare disease portfolio. The MSL will provide advanced scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to ensure the successful dissemination of information related to our products and therapeutic areas.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals, and academic institutions within the rare disease therapeutic area.
  • Serve as a scientific and clinical expert on the company’s rare disease products and related medical conditions.
  • Provide scientific support for clinical trials, including site selection, study initiation, and ongoing site support.
  • Deliver scientific and medical presentations to healthcare professionals, advisory boards, and at conferences.
  • Facilitate and support advisory boards, symposia, and educational meetings.
  • Collect and communicate clinical insights and competitive intelligence from KOLs and healthcare professionals to inform the company’s strategic direction.
  • Support medical affairs activities, including the development of medical communication materials and responses to medical inquiries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical development, regulatory affairs, and marketing, to ensure alignment on scientific and clinical strategies.
  • Monitor and report on scientific literature and developments within the rare disease space.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal guidelines.


Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical science liaison role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in rare diseases is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver scientific presentations and engage in scientific discussions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM systems.


Work Environment:

  • This is a remote position based in California, with significant travel required (up to 60%) to meet with KOLs, attend conferences, and support clinical sites.
