The Department of Radiation Oncology currently has 18 medical physics faculty, 20 clinical faculty, including 8 research scientists, 12 dosimetrists, 9 radiation oncology residents, 5 medical physics residents, 2 medical physics assistants and 2 IT staff.
The Medical Physics Division in the Radiation Oncology Department currently covers five radiation therapy venues, including Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) at Main, West, Coral Gables, Deerfield Beach and Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH), SCCC at Doral, Plantation and Sole Mia scheduled to open soon. The Radiation Oncology clinics are equipped with several modern Varian linear accelerators (TrueBeam, Edge, Trilogy, 23IX) with cone beam CT and arc-based treatment capabilities, Siemens CT simulators, a 3.0T GE MRI, an Elekta Gamma Knife Perfexion, a Nucletron LDR/HDR unit, Philips PET/CT, Vision RT, Viewray Linac MR-Guided Radiotherapy, Varian Ethos Adaptive Therapy Platform, Varian HyperArc Automated SRS Planning and Delivery System, and a single room Varian ProBeam proton therapy system with one rotating gantry beam. The new outpatient clinics at Plantation and Sole Mia will be equipped with modern Varian linear accelerators, including Edge, Ethos and Elekta Unity MR-Guided RT System, Siemens CT Simulator, and PET/CT. The department has an Eclipse treatment planning system and operates on a completely electronic charting system using EPIC and ARIA.
The educational programs include ACGME accredited Radiation Oncology Residency, CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Residency, CAMPEP-accredited graduate program in Medical Physics and JRCERT-accredited MS in Medical Radiation Dosimetry programs.
The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in physics, engineering, medical physics or related field and be ABR (or equivalent) certified or eligible. Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor level faculty appointments are available for qualified candidates. To be eligible for an Associate Professor / Professor level position, a substantial clinical experience and research track record in the field of Medical Physics is required. The salary and level of the position are commensurate with the length, breadth, and depth of experience.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical and communication skills along with a commitment to translational research, teaching, and mentoring. Experience in IGRT, SRS/SBRT, Ethos Adaptive Therapy, and MR-Guided RT is highly desirable.
