Provide physics services to the Radiation Oncology Department; prepare and deliver continuing education to radiation oncology staff as it relates to medical physics, equipment and radiation safety; perform acceptance testing and performance verification of x-ray equipment; coordinate the maintenance of instrumentation required for quality control, image quality and patient treatment measurements; design treatment beam modifiers as needed; calculate dose distributions and machine settings for patient treatments; calibrate radioactive sources and radiation producing equipment; perform linear accelerator quality assurance tests; evaluate and approve dosimetrists’ treatment plans for accuracy and appropriateness. Up to 50% working from home allowed. Must live within normal commuting distance of office.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Physics or Medical Physics. 2 year residency in Therapeutic Medical Physics or 3 years clinical medical physics experience. Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
Prior experience must include any amount of experience with each of the following: Perform acceptance testing and performance verification of x-ray equipment; evaluate and approve dosimetrist treatment plans; calibrate radioactive sources; perform linear accelerator quality assurance tests.
