Medical Director - Remote US Based

CORE is seeking an experienced Medical Director who will be responsible for providing medical supervision and guidance for health programming as well as contributing to emergency response efforts.

The Medical Director, when necessary, will deploy to the field to lead or support first and/or second wave responder teams. The position reports to CORE’s VP of Humanitarian Response and Technical Services, while working closely with Sr. Directors of Programs, Area Directors, Area Managers, and technical leads.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and advise on innovative and practical strategies for health challenges in urban and rural communities, both domestic and international.
  • Review and approve health-related standard operating procedures, ensuring they are aligned with established best practices and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with field teams to identify and evaluate options for health services and systems required to be successful.
  • Provide administrative medical supervision for the organization's health programs, ensuring they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and investigate instances of deviation, wrongdoing, or misconduct related to healthcare provisioning.
  • Provide technical guidance to enhance beneficiary care, incorporating best practices into healthcare programs.
  • Provide guidance to CORE's leadership regarding the direction of health services, so that it aligns with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to develop systems to capture data and to conduct Post Program Evaluations
  • Assume lead role to ensure CORE has adequate registration and approvals needed to operate its programs domestically and internationally, e.g. assist to secure CLIA waivers, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Directors of Programs and Area Directors on ongoing healthcare-focused programming to ensure efficient execution in the field. Work closely with the Humanitarian Response Team to inform CORE's emergency operations, based on interactions with local authorities and emergency management agencies.
  • Assume a leadership role during emergency deployments, taking charge of medical aspects and ensuring effective coordination on the ground when needed.
  • Assist in developing a medical volunteer base including overseeing the verification of credentials and ensuring that volunteers are up to date with the latest practices and training relevant to their roles.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new programs/projects, as needed
  • Reviews reports, briefings, publications, trainings, and other means of promoting knowledge and methods, as needed
  • Coordinate with local authorities and emergency management agencies during domestic and international emergency responses to ensure a cohesive and effective approach.

Scope And Travel

  • Travel up to 20%
  • Manage medical response teams as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy, or
  • Nurse Practitioner with relevant certification and licenses, or
  • PhD/MPH
  • Emergency management training preferred
  • Driver’s License

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years' clinical experience
  • Specific experience in Maternal Child Health, basic health screenings, immunizations, triage care and/or opiates preferred
  • Humanitarian response experience preferred
  • International experience is desirable
  • Experience working with governments, especially department of public health in the City, County, and/or State.
  • Experience working with universities, research groups, and /or non-profit organization preferred

Skills And Competencies

  • Excellent written and spoken English; good communication skills and convincing presenter; proven forward planning and strategic skills; strong public relations skills and network building; good training and facilitation skills; strong leadership skills in high-stress situations.
  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)

$150,000 - $160,000 a year

In accordance with law, the expected pay range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
