We are seeking a Medical Assistant. The position is largely virtual, with potential in-person. The role supports providers, members, and multidisciplinary care teams with administrative tasks related to medical service provision. Strong applicants can work with very dynamic teams in a growing company, are excited about our mission, are committed to helping people through a difficult time in their lives, and demonstrate an accepting attitude toward people with substance use disorders.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Respond and act on care requests from members via phone call or text
  • Relay member requests to their appropriate provider, and communicate the provider’s response to the member
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary care teams
  • Effectively communicate with BLP teammates about member care and needs
  • Facilitate all referrals, medical records, and release of information requests from providers
  • Work with pharmacies and payors on issues regarding member medications, including prior authorizations
  • Schedule medical appointments and manage internal referrals
  • Manage providers’ schedules
  • Order labs and imaging and manage diagnostic results tracking
  • Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1 year of medical practice experience in an administrative role with an understanding of front and backend clinic operational processes is required
  • Experience with substance use disorder care and/or harm reduction preferred
  • Experience in a virtual work setting is required
  • Experience with using EHR systems
  • Proficient with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Sites)
  • Ability to use various communication applications on the company-provided laptop to communicate swiftly via phone call, text message, email, and instant message
  • Basic computer software and hardware proficiency, and troubleshooting competency
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage time, organize, prioritize, and multitask easily with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and closely with a team
  • A desire to work in fast-paced, collaborative, and flexible environments
  • An eagerness to learn, adapt, and take initiative


This position is fully remote (work from home). Although the position is remote, the candidate must live in an area local to the communities we serve in New Hampshire and be able to commute to our shared workspaces when in-person work is required.

Work-from-home requirements:

  • Must have internet service with minimum upload/download ability.
  • The company will provide equipment (laptop, mouse, and headset) plus a remote work stipend.
  • Must have a private, quiet space to speak to members with minimal background noise.
  • Must understand the importance of protected health information and ensure any data/information is not visible to others.


This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. The starting range for this position is $20.79 - $25.66 per hour + equity + benefits. The final compensation package is influenced by various factors such as experience, education, degrees earned, market data, and business requirements.
