Position Title: Medical Assistant

Location: Queens, NY

Status: Contract 13 months aprox.

Status: On-site

Pay Rate: $25.00/hr

Shift: 9am-5pm

Who We Are Looking For / Requirements

Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented healthcare professional capable of obtaining vital signs, including blood pressure, height, and weight, and performing EKGs and other tests within their scope of practice. The ideal candidate would need to be comfortable in a practice that handles about 300 patients daily.

Requirements

Key components we are looking for:

  • Medical Asisstant Certification.
  • Clinical Skills: Competence in taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using EMR systems, particularly Epic.
  • Administrative Skills: Ability to schedule appointments and manage patient information.

General

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, pleasant phone manner, and ability to maintain professional relationships.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage patient flow, stock supplies, and ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed.

What You Will Do / Responsibilities

This role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Obtaining vital signs (BP, Height & weight), EKGs and all other tests within the scope of practice.
  • Perform blood collection (Phlebotomy), prepare specimens for lab
  • Maintains patient flow to/from exam rooms & treatment areas
  • Stocks exam/treatment rooms with clinical supplies & linens.
  • Clinical documentation in EMR.
  • Meets/greets/checks in and out patients at the reception desk.
  • Answers phones in pleasant manner; respond to and route calls accordingly.
  • Schedules appointments for routine & f/u visits, and diagnostic cardiac testing.
  • Gathers appropriate patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Works in Epic (institution-wide EMR, reg, sched, billing, and patient portal system).
  • Maintains professional and cooperative relationships; contributes to collaborative environment.
  • Perform other clinical and clerical duties as assigned.
