This position is an integral part of the Communications Department. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Media Production Coordinator is responsible for producing a range of informative and promotional videos and managing the community television station. This position implements communications strategies that support the City of West Bend’s presence in the community, increases awareness of programs and resources, and offers transparency in government operations to internal and external constituents. Meetings and events typically take place during evenings and select weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Produce signature videos for the City of West Bend, including:
Monthly Business of the Month features
Quarterly episodes of The City
Economic development updates
Select cultural and sporting events
Signature event coverage (i.e., Dirty Ninja Mud Run for Kids, Bockfest, Art & Chalk Fest, etc.)
Public service announcements (i.e., election updates, snow removal)
Recruitment videos
Operate all studio equipment such as cameras, recorders, audio switchers, lights, and editing systems to ensure high-quality production standards.
Oversee all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, scripting, producing, directing, and editing, while meeting tight deadlines.
Coordinate television distribution center operations, managing cable channel schedules and playback systems.
Conduct live and recorded broadcasts of public meetings, sports, and special events.
Supervise production assistants and provide guidance and support in their roles.
Manage the digital asset library on network and online platforms, including the City website, video-on-demand website, and YouTube channel.
Capture high-quality photos and drone footage at events and landmarks to visually showcase West Bend's vibrancy, utilizing drones for aerial imagery and enhancing promotional materials.
Purchase and manage studio equipment and office supplies to maintain efficient operations.
Train individuals and groups in the technical aspects of production to expand the department's capabilities.
Attend and record select community events, meetings, and other activities as needed.
Serve as community television staff liaison for West Bend School District, assigning production assistants to broadcast select meetings, sports and events.
Performs other duties as required
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
Bachelor’s degree in video production, digital media, communications, or similar field of study
3–4 years of communications and video production experience
Proficient with Adobe Premiere Pro, Rush, InDesign, and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Must be able to work under the direction of the Director with minimal supervision
Able to professionally represent the City of West Bend and work positively with others
Must have great attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to meet deadlines
