Catalyx is looking for a multidisciplinary Engineer who combines knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and control systems to design, develop, and maintain advanced electromechanical systems and products.
Designing: Create detailed designs for electromechanical systems, incorporating components such as sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and control systems.
Integration: Integrating mechanical, electrical, and computer components to develop seamless and efficient systems. This may involve working with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for mechanical design and circuit design tools for electrical systems.
Prototyping: Build prototypes and test them to ensure they meet performance specifications and safety standards. Involves rapid prototyping techniques and iterative design processes.
Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing of systems to identify and resolve any issues or inefficiencies. This includes both hardware testing (e.g., stress testing, performance testing) and software testing (e.g., simulation, debugging).
Programming: Writing and debugging code for embedded systems, microcontrollers, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers). This may involve languages such as C/C++, Python, or specialized languages for PLC programming.
Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems in electromechanical systems, both during development and in the field. This requires strong understanding of the interactions between mechanical, electrical, and software components.
Maintenance and Repair: Providing solutions for mechatronic systems throughout their lifecycle. This may involve performing regular inspections, replacing faulty components, and updating software as needed.
Collaboration: Working closely with other engineers, designers, and technicians to develop integrated solutions that meet project requirements and deadlines.
Documentation: Create detailed documentation, including technical specifications, design documents, user manuals, and maintenance guides.
Research and Development: Staying up to date with advancements in mechatronics technology and participating in research and development activities to improve existing systems or develop new products.
Overall, the mechatronics engineer will play a critical role in designing and maintaining a wide range of advanced systems, from robotic automation and industrial machinery to consumer electronics and medical devices. They must possess a strong foundation in multiple engineering disciplines and be able to apply their knowledge creatively to solve complex technical challenges. May include project management to ensure overall status of deliverables, budget, systems usage, vendor management and the ability to drive the project forward.
