Mechanical Test & Assembly Technician

Description

Targan Inc is searching for a Mechanical Test & Assembly Technician who is responsible for assisting in the design, execution, and analysis of mechanical test experiments. This person will collaborate with engineering teams to develop and refine test procedures, design and fabricate test components, and contribute to proof-of-concept projects. This role involves hands-on work with mechanical systems and tools, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis to validate design concepts and improve product performance. This person must have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.

  • Understanding of industrial machines and devices.
  • Understanding practices used for assembly and testing devices.
  • Design and fabricate test components and fixtures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test setups and procedures
  • Document test results and prepare detailed technical reports
  • Proficient with CAD (Solidworks) is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fabrication and manufacturing practices including 3D printing
  • Detailing prints and understanding dimensioning and tolerancing.

Requirements

  • Associates degree is required
  • Knowledge of material properties and testing standards
  • Certification in relevant engineering disciplines
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a dynamic and fast-paced environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed inside a flex space building consisting of offices, open desk space, laboratory, machine shop, and a manufacturing floor. Level of noise is usually quiet in the office environment and temperature controlled. Noise levels are elevated in the warehouse space where temperatures can vary depending on the outside elements and weather. Travel may be required, including up to 2-8 trips per year to visit suppliers, attend conferences, meetings (customer, investor, and business) and customer sites (hatcheries).
