Mechanical Project Engineer

The Mechanical Systems Engineer- Hospitals is responsible for designing the application of mechanical systems that may include Automated Guided Vehicles for transporting carts throughout the facility, gravity-based chute systems for trash and linen removal, pneumatic systems for automated waste and linen removal, and Pneumatic Tube Systems for transporting small materials throughout the hospital.

This will encompass a number of responsibilities and activities including:

• Analyze the flow of materials and information through healthcare facilities by applying a wide range of quantitative tools and models to identify opportunities for improvement
• Conduct site visits, interviews, and observations to assess the client’s operation for improvement opportunities while working with all levels of the client organization from the front-line staff to the executive leadership
• Serve as a subject matter expert during the planning and design of mechanical systems, providing your expertise and guidance
• Be a passionate problem-solver who puts the client's needs first and has a strong desire to make a lasting impact on their operations through your work

Education & Experience:

• BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical engineering or a related field of study
• 4+ years of job-related experience in a hospital or medical facility environment, conducting cost analysis, layout design, or inventory analysis
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High attention to detail with a commitment to continuous improvement
• Lean Six Sigma and/or PMP certification is a plus
