Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Energy Performance
Location: Greater Seattle Area
About the Company: We have currently partnered with a leading renewables developer specializing in energy performance and sustainable building solutions. They are committed to delivering innovative projects that positively impact the environment and their communities.
About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in energy performance and design-build projects. The ideal candidate will have a Professional Engineer (PE) license and a strong track record in both the development and implementation phases of energy-efficient systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering aspects of energy performance contracting projects from inception to completion.
- Collaborate closely with clients, developers, architects, and internal teams to develop design-build solutions that meet project goals and energy efficiency targets.
- Conduct energy audits, feasibility studies, and life cycle cost analyses to identify opportunities for energy savings and sustainability improvements.
- Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, and documentation for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring quality, performance, and client satisfaction.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Washington or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering roles, preferably in energy performance contracting or related fields.
- Proven expertise in HVAC systems design, energy modeling, and sustainable building practices.
- Experience with project management and delivery in a design-build environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of energy efficiency financing mechanisms and incentives (e.g., utility rebates, tax credits).
- Familiarity with energy simulation software (e.g., EnergyPlus, eQuest) and building energy codes (e.g., ASHRAE, IECC).
- Experience working with LEED or other green building certification programs.
