Overview: We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for designing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing surgical instruments. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams as you will be actively involved in all stages of the product development process and you should confidently oversee each phase: concept ideation, proof of concept design, rapid iteration and prototyping, design for manufacturing, communicating with manufacturers and overseeing large-scale product production. We seek an energetic, hands-on professional who can find creative approaches to challenging problems and quickly develop functional solutions. This full-time, in-person position is located near the Flatiron Building in New York.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative medical devices that improve patient outcomes
  • Develop rapid proof of concepts utilizing in-house SLA and FDM 3D printers
  • Conduct product research and identify improvements on ergonomics, functionality, manufacturability, and production cost.
  • Identify and implement cost-effective solutions while maintaining high quality standards
  • Work closely with manufacturing facilities to ensure medical devices are optimized for production
  • Continually search for opportunities for process improvement and optimization
  • Follow all safety and regulatory standards in medical product design and development
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods
  • Maintain equipment in excellent condition by coordinating maintenance and repair services
  • Maintain rigorously organized working environment and robust documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote rapid product development
  • Work with the customer success team to understand market needs, user requirements and patient outcomes


Work Hours and Benefits:

  • Full-time position in person at our offices in the Flatiron district

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Expert in CAD (Fusion 360, Adobe suite).
  • Expert in rapid prototyping using CNC machining and 3D printing.
  • Expert in DFM and various manufacturing techniques (CNC machining, Injection Molding)
  • Knowledgeable on all aspects of the product development process (packaging, large-scale production, managing manufacturing teams, setting up product testing protocols)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
